Last year our home was broken into and many things were stolen. We were lucky in that the thief largely ignored the numerous and expensive camera items in one room, choosing instead to focus on the usual: Jewelry, laptops & money.
The thief made off with thousands of dollars of items, but (curiously) ignored...

After a recent wedding gig with my mentor, we sat down and talked about various ways to improve my photography. Specifically there were two areas she was concerned with: Noise, and White Balance.
Now... I have a really nice professional camera paired with pro glass. But the camera is also capable of super-high ISO, which means noise. Noise can swallow detail in images and render an image useless... You can pull some of the noise out in Lightroom/Photoshop but this can introduce a plastic-like look which is not very desirable and pretty much means that the image will be left on the cutting...
With the wedding season winding down I was able to escape to the San Juan Islands for some Thanksgiving R&R. In tow are my beautiful wife, both of our mothers, and some camera gear.
Instead of braving the crowds on Black Friday (Why did I feel the need to capitalize that?) we decided to go for a leisurely drive around Lopez Island. I'm always scouting for new locations and although the drive from Seattle to Lopez Island is a bit long for a photo shoot, the drive around the island was beautiful... and that's when I came across 'The Truck"
